Market watcher iSuppli has it that overall PC shipments in 2009 will dip four percent year-on-year - the largest single year drop since 2001, with desktops the biggest losers.
IDC's Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker is predicting a drop in PC shipments of 8 percent in the first half of 2009, after a 1.9 percent drop in the last quarter of 2008.
A survey run by RPS indicates that nearly half of all PC games sales are made digitally through services like Steam.
Console sales apparently did well all round this Christmas, with all console makers claiming increased sales and profits.
