Mod of the Month - November 2009

With 2009 drawing its last few gasps, it's nearly time for our spectacular Mod of the Year feature and this year promises to be as big as any previous competition so stay tuned on that front nearer the end of December. Before then though, here's the final instalment of MOTM for 2009 with six more awesome pieces of work we've spotted in our project log forum. Each project is totally unique with some very different designs on show but one thing they do all have in common is that they involve awesome amounts of skill.

We've got original design and precision engineering at its highest level, some great photography, mini water-cooled madness, custom circuit boards and giant radiators. There's definitely something for everyone in this month's line up and it's also the return of the modding god that is G69T too.

Last month saw another very popular competition featuring some of the most promising projects we've seen for a while. In the end Project: ProtoHype by The_Gnu won by a clear margin with his awesome futuristic steampunk-like design that's already coming together in spectacular fashion. Runners up were the charismatic AnG3L with his follow up to his popular AnG3L project called ToTecHniKa and Ioncito by elGafas in third.

We've also been busy with finished mods in our features section too so make sure you check them out here and of course a trip to bit-tech's modding forums where all the action happens is highly recommended too!

Our sponsor for Mod of the Month is Quiet PC and they'll be giving the lucky winner the choice of one of these three great prizes:

Mod of the Month - November 2009

Scythe Kama Connect 2 USB2.0 IDE and SATA External Adapter

The Scythe Kama Connect 2 is an incredibly handy gadget designed to allow you to connect SATA and IDE hard drives quickly and easily to any PC using USB. It is compatible with both 3.5in and 2.5in SATA and IDE hard drives, as well as any other IDE device such as an optical drive. The ability to quickly plug-and-play any hard drive gives you a quick and easy way to access your files or transfer them from one drive to another without needing to open up your PC.

Scythe Mugen 2 Quiet CPU Cooler

This processor cooler is an example of Japanese engineering at its finest! Scythe’s Mugen 2 Quiet CPU Cooler is designed with five fin towers for improved processor cooling by up to 7 degrees C compared with the original Mugen, which itself was one of the best on the market. As you would expect, it is multi-socket compatible for Intel and AMD and comes with full instructions.

Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus Black Multi Fan Controller

Zalman's ZM-MFC1 PLUS is a very simple fan controller which supports up to six 3-pin fans. This provides the user with total control of the installed fans. Each channel is capable of altering the supplied voltage from 5V to 11V, with 5V able to quieten even the loudest of fans. As well as a reduction in noise, lowering the voltage a fan receives also reduces the airflow, so make sure you keep an eye on the temperatures inside the system.

So it's a massive thanks to Quiet PC as always and well done to all the nominees last month. The only thing that's left to say is good luck to this month's nominees and in case you wander where MOTM is next month, we're clearing the way for our spectacular Mod of the Year competition. It will be back in January though!
