In Win Mod in Taiwan – Day 1 Summary

This year, In Win is celebrating its 30th birthday. As we reported back in March, part of this involves the hosting of a live modding competition. Eight teams from seven nations have been flown into Taiwan and given a brand new In Win chassis, some killer hardware and all manner of power tools to see what they can create in just 24 hours, split across three eight hour days.
We're here at the Taoyuan factory complex keeping up with all the action. The first day is now up and the modding area is considerably messier than it was. However, the builds are all well on their way to completion. Military, Medieval and Spaceship are the three themes the teams are allowed to pick from, and there are of course many different ways to interpret and realise each of these – it certainly doesn't look like any two mods will be the same.

The modders aren't just competing for bragging rights either, as there are three different prizes up for grabs. The Best Design Award and Innovation Award will both be open to public voting, both online and on-site at Computex, where all the completed mods will be on display and where we'll also be running around like sleep-deprived lunatics. In Win and its media/sponsor partners will all have a say as well. The winners of these will receive $5,000 and a sweet selection of hardware including their choice of In Win chassis.
There is also the In Win's Choice Award. This is selected only by In Win, because the company will actually be doing a limited edition production run of the winning design. The hardware selection is the same, but the cash prize drops to $3,000 here. However, the winners also get an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas for CES 2017 in January, where their mod will be showcased.
