We headed out to the
27th i-Series LAN at Newbury racecourse this weekend. The event this time around had over 1200 gamers and seemed busier than ever before. We scoped out the venue to find the hottest case mods and coolest kit on offer.
For past coverage of LAN events, check out our
i26 coverage from last year.
Walkaround
Quite apart from the mods, there are always some cool things to see at the LAN. Here are some of our favourites:
The server admins have a... messy job.
Clearly too many noobs this time around! This is definitely one of the funkiest screensavers we've seen in a while.
bit-tech readers will be familiar with Gunsmith's
KOS-MOS case. The latest add-on to it is a Japanese import figurine which it took 3 months to get old of! Meanwhile, there's more importing action through
Americansoda.co.uk, in the shape of this obsessive Mountain Dew consumer!
This chap possibly takes the award for biggest display of the show, with his Counter-Strike being perfected on a 27" LG TV. His mouse was rather innovative: an instrument designed for those who go in for fingertip mousing rather than flat-palm mousing.
The chap on the left took the award, in contrast, for having the smallest display of the show, with this tiny Packard Bell job. Meanwhile, his cohort had an array of i-Series badges on display as war trophies.
