London, UK, 18th September, 2008 – Toshiba Computer Systems today announced the UK arrival of the Toshiba NB100 – the company’s first product to enter the growing netbook market.
The Toshiba NB100 is a stylish, compact device with advanced communication and multimedia capabilities. Premium quality features mean the NB100 can be used as either for primary or secondary computing purposes, with a strong feature-set and high build-quality build making it an impressively versatile product.
Powered by the latest Intel Atom CPU, the Toshiba NB100 comes in two variants – one with Linux Ubuntu 8.04, while an alternative version offers Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. Toshiba’s implementation of Ubuntu offers enhanced usability functions, as is preconfigured with OpenOffice 2.4, whilst the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition version offers MS Works 8.5 and Office Trial.
The NB100 comes with an 8.9” widescreen TruBrite display (1024x600), providing richer colours, clearer pictures and sharper text when viewing documents to browsing the internet. LED backlighting also preserves energy, contributing to an impressive battery life of up to 3hrs 47mins – providing maximum usability when away from the mains.
Rich connectivity options include WiFi (802.11 b/g) and a 10/100 Ethernet port, allowing users to hook up to the internet and numerous peripherals. Three USB ports with Toshiba Sleep-and-Charge technology also allow users to charge external hardware, such as personal media players and mobile phones, when the netbook is in sleep mode.
An integrated 0.3MP webcam provides a portable option for online video and teleconferencing, while hard disk storage of up to 120GB provides space for thousands of files and downloads. Integrated stereo speakers also combine with the pin-sharp TruBrite display, making the NB100 an excellent option for viewing multimedia while on the move.
The Toshiba NB100 comes in three different colours, with consumers able to take their pick from Cosmic Black, Champagne Gold and Bright Silver designs. Build-quality is also of a premium standard, providing users with resolute and portable netbook that blends high-quality features with a stylish design – all from a device weighing less than a kilo in weight.
