Dell's Front-row Seat to Entertainment, Streamed, On-demand and from the Cloud

BRACKNELL, UK, July 27, 2011 – Dell today unveiled the next generation of its Stage software, an innovative application that offers one-click access to music, videos and photos across Dell’s Consumer portfolio[i] of Stage-enabled laptops, desktops and Android mobile devices.

Dell Stage shines a spotlight on your favourite content -- and, most importantly, lets you access and share it quickly and easily. With Stage Remote, wirelessly stream your favourite movies, photos and music using your home WiFi network. Stage also includes SyncUP powered by Nero, which synchronises content across devices and offers 2GB of free personal cloud storage so you can access and store your favourite content anytime; from anywhere you are connected to a WiFi network and have browser access.

Stage Remote & SyncUP powered by Nero: All Your Content When and Where You Want It
Stage allows you to enjoy life’s moments, anytime, anywhere. Organise, access and share what’s most important to you the easy way with the new release of Dell Stage with SyncUP.

New Stage Remote is the perfect solution for streaming content from one Dell Stage-enabled device to another, or even to your DNLA enabled big screen TV or speakers so that you can quickly access everything you love, no matter where it resides. For instance, you can stream a kid’s movie from your XPS 15 or Inspiron laptop to the high-definition TV in the living room – all without having to leave the dinner you’re preparing. You can also use your Android-based Streak 7 tablet to control the entire experience, calling up content wherever it resides on the network, and selecting on which device (or television) it appears[ii].

Your data is spread out between all the devices you use – from your laptop to your smartphone or tablet making it difficult to keep track of what is stored where. An innovative feature within Stage called SyncUP allows consumers to bring their devices together in their own SyncUP network making data sharing among devices simpler. SyncUP can automatically sync files across supported devices within your home’s WiFi network[iii] - making it easy to get the content you want, on the device you want, when you want it. Photos snapped with your Dell Android tablet or smartphone, for example, are automatically synced to your laptop or desktop. And if you're on the road, and you happen to download a song to your Streak 5, the content is automatically synced with your laptop, desktop and other devices on your personal network the next time you turn on your system.

In addition to file sharing from PC to mobile, and from PC to PC, the SyncUP feature within Dell Stage offers 2GB of free cloud storage. This feature lets you upload your holiday photos to the cloud while still there, and access it from your All-in-One at home when you return. Important documents -- like school presentations -- can also be stored in the cloud and accessed from virtually anywhere there is internet connectivity and browser access. What’s more, you also have the option to purchase further storage of up to 100GB with an attractively-priced annual subscription.

“Stage takes ease of access to your content to a new level," said Tim Peters, global vice president of Dell's Consumer, Small and Medium Business Product Group. "It links all your Stage-enabled devices so that you can quickly access everything you love and need, no matter where it resides, on the device you want, when you want it."

“Stage is all about you and the content you love, whether music, videos or photos – wherever it resides,” said Michael Tatelman, vice president of sales and marketing for Dell’s consumer, small- and medium-business unit. “With Stage, you can tap into the home movies, pictures and albums you’ve downloaded – and you can enjoy all of it on any Dell Stage-enabled device in your home network. Everything is better together with the latest version of Stage, which is available now as an over-the-air update for Dell devices with a previous version of Stage, and pre-loaded on most consumer products now shipping.”

In fact, since the launch of the over-the-air update at the beginning of July, over 1,000,000 copies of the latest version of Stage have been downloaded.

Expanded Content Providers and Personalisation
Dell Stage enables seamless, quick switching between content, viewing photos, downloading movies and videos, listening to new music, and streaming live radio.

The latest version of Stage also offers increased personalisation including the ability to add links you use most, creation of your own music playlists and creation of your own shortcuts. You can also use the photos in your PhotoStage to create a new photo screensaver that includes photos from your Facebook pages.

In addition to your personal content, Dell Stage offers access to Noisey, Blio and Zinio. New Stage content providers and functionality include:
• Noisey, offering concert video of emerging artists worldwide
• Zinio, a digital magazine application
• Blio, eReader application (US, Canada and UK only)
• New integration with Facebook and Flickr pulls friends’ photos into PhotoStage mosaic screensaver
