High end features include TMC, Bluetooth, full European mapping,
fingerprint recognition, integrated FM transmitter and a Sudoku game

MEDION, a leading consumer technology vendor, today announces the
availability of its latest navigation device – the MEDION GoPal P5430, a
feature packed navigation system with a super sized 5” widescreen. With a
high standard of specification including integrated TMC and built-in TMC
antenna, Bluetooth, preinstalled European mapping and a biometric
fingerprint sensor meaning that only authorised users are able to switch the
unit on, the MEDION GoPal P5430 is priced at approximately £180.

Combining a stylish, elegant design with a clear 5” full colour TFT touch-
screen, the MEDION GoPal P5430 has preinstalled maps for the UK and
Europe offering the details necessary to navigate the most demanding
journeys. The Navteq map data shows route information on a
comprehensive display layout, offering a choice of arrow-based, 2D or 3D
intelligent visual guidance, with a further split screen option. Additionally,
the super sized TFT touch-screen display comes with day and night mode
ensuring that it is always easy to read.

While on the road, the MEDION GoPal P5430’s integrated TMC function
keeps drivers informed of the latest traffic information and recalculates
plotted routes to avoid the stress of traffic jams and hold-ups. The device
also has an integrated FM transmitter for sending the navigation instruction
voice or MP3 music through a car radio’s speakers. Played MP3 tracks
also automatically fade in and out when navigation instructions are spoken.

The ultra-fast route calculation and response time to driver commands are
guaranteed by the high-performance SiRF Titan 600 MHz processor, while
an integrated TMC antenna replaces annoying windshield wiring, making
the navigation device easy to remove from the vehicle. The MEDION
GoPal P5430’s road safety credentials are further enhanced by the
accurate, real-time GPS-generated speed display that works in conjunction
with the speed limit notification to alert drivers when they are exceeding the
speed limit. There is also a handy ‘lane advisor’ feature that recommends
lanes in good time.

The latest MEDION GoPal AE 4 software is installed offering a
comprehensive list of over 50 different POI categories, including petrol
stations, parking places and cash machines, with additional points of
interest easily downloadable from the internet. It also includes touchless
technology, making all menu options accessible by spoken commands for
safe, entirely hands-free navigation. Bluetooth connectivity also enables
compatible mobile phones to be paired with the device, allowing drivers to
make and receive calls effortlessly and safely.

Additional features include an integrated MP3 player, photo viewer, travel
guide and a Sudoku game, which could prove useful for passing the time
while waiting in the car for partners to come back from their Christmas
shopping trips. The MEDION GoPal P5430 also includes pedestrian and
cyclist modes and comes with an alarm clock.
