ESL One once again brings Dota to Frankfurt's World Cup stadium in 2015

Commerzbank-Arena to host US$150,000 Dota 2 esports festival as ESL One takes to the field

(Cologne, Germany) December 11, 2014 - Following the success of ESL One Frankfurt 2014, Germany’s 2006 World Cup football stadium, Commerzbank-Arena, will once again play host to the premier esports tournament. June 20th and 21st will feature competition between eight of the world’s best Dota 2 teams who are set to battle it out in the legendary stadium for over US$150,000 in prize money.

After ESL One Frankfurt 2014 we just could not pass up the opportunity for a repeat performance in 2015. We received countless messages from fans and have taken all feedback into account to make 2015 an even fan and player experience better,” said Ulrich Schulze, Managing Director of Pro Gaming at ESL. “The Commerzbank-Arena is such an iconic stadium, we are very excited to be going back and definitely have a few tricks up our sleeve for returning fans!

During the two event days, nearly 6 million people tuned in to watch the action on streams, with over 500,000 simultaneous viewers following the tournament. They were joined by 12,500 fans at the stadium on each of the event days. Cheered to victory by the masses were Invictus Gaming, who took home the first ever ESL One Frankfurt title and tens of thousands of dollars in prize money. ESL One Frankfurt 2015 will follow a similar format: qualifiers begin early 2015 and will see six teams progress to Frankfurt alongside two invited teams. Represented will be the top teams from Europe, America and Asia. Following the successful cooperation from this year's event, the qualifiers will be ran in cooperation with joinDOTA.

Tickets sales start on December 15th at 17:00 CET (8:00 PST), with Premium and Weekend tickets being available on first come first serve basis. First wave of Premium tickets for ESL One Frankfurt 2014 was sold out in less than 2 hours. More information can be found over on the official ESL One website.
