AMD released its AM2 platform last week, and NVIDIA appears to have gotten in the update mood too, with a raft of new drivers being posted up to
nZone. For graphics card users, 91.28 adds a bundle of new PureVideo features, as well as support for new cards including the 7900 GS and 7300 GT. There's also a brand new control panel. The green team has also added beta drivers for the new nForce 500 series, as well as new Vista drivers for nForce 4.
Meanwhile, the red team is also getting in on the beta act with a
new release of Catalyst drivers for Vista beta 2. If you're tempted to have a go at installing a preview version of Microsoft's much-delayed OS, you'll want to be picking up these. There's also a full release of the new
Catalyst 6.5 drivers available.
If you're a Tolkien fan, you may well have picked up Battle For Middle Earth II, the sequel to EA's popular RTS.
Patch 1.04 is just out.
Alternatively, if you like to roll your own Tolkien, the latest release of the Lord of the Rings Total Conversion for Rome: Total War
has been posted. Version 1.1c brings the awesome Rome gameplay to life in Middle Earth.
Prefer your action to be more of the run-and-gun-and-heave variety? Then there's a new
Patch 1.2 for Tomb Raider: Legends. There's better performance to be had overall, as well as tweaks to the lighting when using NextGen Content and some specific fixes for CrossFire users.
There's also a wicked new patch out for Half-Life 2 that might keep you going in the run-up to Episode One.
The pilotable Strider mod does what it sounds like - puts you in for some deathmatch action at the helm of City 17's finest walkers.
