Microsoft’s Chris Keroack, Release Manager for Windows XP SP3, revealed yesterday that the software giant has released the third Service Pack for Windows XP to manufacturing.
This news means that the rumours that were circulating
last week have turned out to be true.
“
Today we are happy to announce that Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) has released to manufacturing (RTM),” said Keroack in a statement on the
TechNet forums. “
Windows XP SP3 bits are now working their way through our manufacturing channels to be available to OEM and Enterprise customers.
“
We are also in the final stages of preparing for release to the web (i.e. you!) on April 29th, via Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center. Online documentation for Windows XP SP3, such as Microsoft Knowledge Base articles and the Microsoft TechNet Windows XP TechCenter, will be updated then. For customers who use Windows XP at home, Windows XP SP3 Automatic Update distribution for users at home will begin in early summer.”
Keroack didn’t reveal exactly
when MSDN and TechNet subscribers would be able to download the software, but we expect it to be soon. The rest of us will have to wait until next week to get hold of it.
Are you still running Windows XP and, if so, are you looking forward to SP3? Let us know
