One of ATI's major fabricators, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), has
released a statement saying that it's business as usual with ATI.
Many people had speculated wide ripples through the industry after the merger was announced, but TMSC has no intentions to change its relationship. TMSC produces a considerable amount of ATI's chips, since the graphics producer was a "fabless" company.
AMD stated during a conference call on the merger announcements that it would not be producing ATI chips in its plants for at least two years. Until that time, ATI will remain fabless, and thus still require the aid of TMSC.
The more things change, the more they stay the same...
Got a thought on the lack of change? Are you surprised that things will stay this much
status quo? Let us know your thoughts
