After the rather comical internal presentation that appeared on TechPowerUp earlier this week, The INQUIRER has caught on to it and is challenging ATI and NVIDIA to a duel.
The whole presentation was based around NVIDIA's 'Desperate Stand' - which is apparently known as GeForce 7800 GTX 512. On one of the slides in the presentation, ATI makes a claim that NVIDIA's GeForce 7800 GTX 512 is above the recommended voltage for TSMC's 110nm manufacturing process, and will fail in 1170 hours according to calculations.
In an attempt to find out the truth behind the claims that NVIDIA's GeForce 7800 GTX 512 will fail after just under 49 days continuous 3D load, The INQUIRER has challenged ATI and NVIDIA to a 1170-hour stress test with their flagship products: Radeon X1800XT 512MB and GeForce 7800 GTX 512 respectively. The presentation also talks about the lack of availability from partners on NVIDIA's new flagship part amongst other things. We talked about pricing and availability of GeForce 7800 GTX 512 here and here. We can say that the situation is improving slightly, but the cards appear to be in high demand, even with a near-£500 price tag.
