Logitech G, the gaming peripherals arm of the eponymous Logitech, has announced the launch of the Logitech G Pro mechanical gaming keyboard, which it claims to have developed in partnership with numerous eSports personalities from the Cloud9 team.
Designed, naturally, for gamers, the Logitech G Pro drops the typical Cherry MX mechanical switches of its competitors in favour of the company's own Romer-G design - ostensibly not to save money but rather to decrease the actuation time by 25 percent over Cherry's versions, measured at a 1.5mm actuation point to Cherry MX Red's 2mm - across a compact tenkeyless design. Naturally, the usual features of a gaming keyboard are included: a removable micro-USB cable for connectivity, per-key RGB backlighting linked to Logitech's Gaming Software (LGS) suite but stored in firmware on the board itself, and claims of an impressively sturdy build based on a reinforced steel backplate suitable, the company claims, for competition use and frequent travel.
'
This is a great keyboard because it's small, durable, and tenkeyless. This allows me to have more space on my table,' burbled Cloud9 team member Jake 'Stewie2K' Yip, who worked with Logitech on the design of the G Pro keyboard. '
The Romer-G switches are nice and quiet, and they're super comfortable to type on.'
'
eSports athletes are extremely picky and demanding, and we love it,' crowed Ujesh Desai, vice president and general manager of Logitech G, at the launch of the keyboard. '
We give them access to our prototype designs early and often, and let them rip 'em apart. The result is the Pro Gaming Keyboard with ultra-fast switches, durable construction, and a tenkeyless design that's easy to transport. If you play to win, this is your keyboard.'
The Logitech G Pro is due to arrive in the UK channel imminently, priced at £129.99. More information is available on the
official product page.
