Cherry, of Cherry keyboard switch fame, has announced the MX G80-3850, a new budget mechanical gaming keyboard that's currently available for a mere £65 at the Gadget Show Live.
The new keyboard uses a full suite of Cherry red key switches for a lightweight action and long key life. It also features a button for quickly disabling the Windows key to prevent accidentally exiting a game while playing, and the USB cable is removable.
Also available are replacement clear keys, along with a key removal tool, for easily modifying the look of the keyboard.
The keyboard is clearly a budget design with a very lightweight, flexible feel to the chassis - almost disconcertingly so - but given it's generally the keys of a keyboard that go first we're sure it'll stand up to normal typing duties for plenty of time. There are also few extras with no backlighting or multimedia keys.
Newly launched, there are only a few handfuls of the keyboards currently available in the UK, and all of them are being sold at the Gadget Show Live for a discounted price of £65. But, shortly stock will be readily available from normal distributors with an MSRP of £79.99.
We'll be sure to get one of these new keyboards in for a full review as soon as possible but in the mean time let us know your thoughts in the comments.
