ViewSonic has announced a new range of gaming monitors boasting low input lag and support for AMD's FreeSync dynamic refresh rate technology, including Full HD and Ultra HD models.
ViewSonic's latest XG monitor family starts with the XG2401, a 24" monitor boasting a Full HD resolution and 144Hz native refresh rate which dynamically scales according to the framerate of displayed content using AMD's FreeSync technology. The company claims to have designed the display with gamers at the forefront of their mind, promising low input lag - though without specifying any precise figures - and a 'black stabilisation function' which the company claims makes it easier to spot villains hiding in the shadows without sacrificing colour reproduction and contrast. The display includes dual HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, along with an integrated two-port USB hub for peripherals.
For those who need more pixels, the XG2700-4K ups the size to 27 diagonal inches and the resolution to Ultra HD (3,840x2,160). Based on a 'SuperClear' in-plane switching (IPS) panel, the company claims the display supports Ultra HD content at 60Hz - rather then the 30Hz maximum of some first-generation UHD displays - while offering the same FreeSync and black stabilisation functions as its smaller equivalent. The display includes DisplayPort 1.2a and HDMI 2.0 connectivity, while both models feature stands with swivel, pivot, tilt, and height adjustment, integrated headphone hook, and Blue Light Filter mode for more comfortable night-time usage.
Both displays are due to begin shipping in mid April, priced at £249 for the XG2401 and £499 for the XG2700-4K. Additionally, the company has launched a trio of lower-cost multimedia-centric monitors, the VX family, which lack some of the XG's higher-end features but still include FreeSync support and which start at just £119.
