A comprehensive review of Samsung's new flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4, has appeared on a Chinese website ahead of its official unveiling tonight.

Seen by many as among the most anticipated mobile phones of this year, the leak will come as a blow to Samsung as it prepares its big reveal at a lavish event in New York.

The extremely comprehensive review was posted by IT168.com and as well as full specs, detailed pictures and several videos of the phone in action, there are screen and camera comparisons to many of its key rivals - the iPhone 5 and Xperia Z - as well as the Samsung Galaxy S3.

As expected, the phone is similar in design to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and features a 5-inch, 1080p AMOLED screen, an 8-core Samsung Exynos processor, a 13megapixel camera, microSD slot and, at least on this early sample, a dual-SIM configuration.

As well as these expected core features the phone also has a similar hover interaction feature as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Hover your finger over the screen and it will preview pictures or emails, without fully opening them up.

Wireless charging is also included and, although the battery size isn't explicitly shown, the site estimates it to use a 2600mAh unit, which is relatively large - the HTC One has a 2300mAh battery.

The full Samsung Galaxy S4 specs according to IT168 are:
  • Name Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500
  • Screen 4.99inch, 1920 x 1080 Super AMOLED
  • Dimensions 140.1 x 71.8 x 7.7mm
  • Weight 138g
  • Processor Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5410
  • CPU: Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7
  • Graphics processor PowerVR SGX 544MP3@533MHz
  • RAM 2GB
  • Storage 16/32/64GB + microSD
  • Front Camera 2MP
  • Rear Camera 13MP
  • OS Android 4.2.1+TouchWIz
  • Battery 2600mAh
  • Price £480

The site doesn't mince its words when it comes to criticising some aspects of the phone, with it calling out Samsung on the use of a soft plastic back. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has proven to be fairly resilient despite its plastic construction but many have complained of it not feeling premium, and the suggestion is that will be the case with the S4 too.

The site does, however, point out that its sample is not a final production model. Indeed it's still possible the site is showing a fake model of the phone, but there is little to suggest this is the case.

The Samsung Galaxy S4's predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S3, has been hugely successful, at times outselling the latest iPhone in the course of its year on the market. Just exactly what the Galaxy S4 will feature will be revealed at 11pm tonight (GMT).

So what do you think? With the S3 being probably the most popular phone for Android tinkerers and tech enthusiasts, is the S4 looking like a worthy successor?
