Corsair has announced its latest high-performance memory kits, dubbed Vengeance.
The DDR3 memory kits, available in sizes of up to 16GB, are designed for gamers and enthusiasts, offering '
excellent overclocking results on current and future generation Intel and AMD platforms,' according to the company's statement today.
Thi La, Corsair's vice president of memory products, claims that '
customers have been asking for outstanding overclocking memory with a lower price tag, and we have been listening,' further stating that '
I believe that our users will love both the exciting new look and the overclocking results they are able to achieve with our new Vengeance memory.'
The new look comes from a redesigned finned aluminium heatspreader, which Corsair claims helps the RAM reach new levels of performance when overclocked - much the same claims as OCZ made recently for its own redesigned
Blade 2 RAM modules.
The 1.5V memory modules are available in sizes of up to 4GB and kits of up to 16GB, running at speeds of 1600MHz and timings of 9-9-9-24 or 8-8-8-24 depending on model. For those who prefer a higher starting point, Corsair has also confirmed an 8GB kit comprising two 4GB modules running at the faster speed of 1866MHz, 9-9-9-24.
The kits are slated to appear in resellers' inventories imminently, although at the moment there's no clue as to UK pricing. US pricing starts at $75 (around £48) for a single 4GB module and hits $306 (around £197) for the top-end 16GB quad-module kit.
Do you think that Corsair's latest RAM looks like a tempting purchase, or are there better options out there? Share your thoughts over in the forums.
