CeBIT 09: I desperately want one of MSI's new X320 . I don't care that I should remain impartial, this 13" beauty is a sexy little beast that doesn't require me to sell my body parts for cash, unlike certain Apple or Lenovo products. The X340 uses Intel's upcoming ultra low voltage, Core Solo products designed to compete with the AMD Athlon Neo (Yukon) product. Yep, product; singular.
If you're a brand-whore then MSI won't do it for you at all. There's still the little question of battery life too, as well as the final build quality, but the spec list reads pretty good: 160GB hard drive, 2GB memory, X4500 Intel GPU, Intel SU3500 CPU (Core Solo). Connectivity includes 802.11g wireless, with 'n' optional (although not 100 percent guaranteed at this stage), as well as Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, SD card reader and microphone and line-inputs.
It's thinner than an A4 pad of paper, incredibly light (quoted as 1.3KG although, again, this is pre-production so take that with a pinch of salt) and comes with a 13" LED backlit 16:9 screen. The rumor on battery life is about four hours, but at least it's removable so it can be swapped out on the go.
There are "260 bug fixes" to be ironed before the final production run in April for the model pictured below, but the basic look is set to remain.
