They where supposed to have launched this thing
months ago, after it's launch at CES earlier in the year, but Apple and Moto have kept putting it back. Well, after doubts it would ever see the light of day, especially after
several major US carriers passed on offering the phone, it looks as if things are
moving again - there's been rumours of an announcement this week, along with quite a few spy shots doing the rounds of the purported phone, but these from engadget look to be the most believable:
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for: obviously we can’t tell you how we got ‘em, but after months of pining away for this, we’ve finally scored some actual live shots of a cellphone running Apple’s new iTunes Mobile software. It might just be an engineering or a production sample, and we can’t guarantee whether this will actually be the first iTunes phone or not, but we do know that we’re looking at a pearly white E790 and that synchronizes with iTunes 4.9 (and has the same autofill menu options as the iPod shuffle—see below). Not sure how much internal memory the phone has, but we do know that this sample shipped with a 128MB TransFlash card that sits opposite the SIM and under the battery and supposedly sounds every bit as good as a full-size iPod and has “excellent bass response”.
That's all engadget has to say about the phone, but you'll get the eye candy if you follow this
link.
Of course, there's a variety of comments on the engadget site about the fact the phone isn't the best looking thing out there at the moment, and lamenting the fact it doesn't look 'Apple' enough. However, reading through them all, and taking in the news that some people have already got some
current Moto handsets talking to iTunes 4.9 (Which inquisitive types have already dissected and found references to phones in it) makes me believe that the application could be run on any modern (recently released) Motorola phone. So it doesn't really matter what hardware they're debuting it on - if you want iTunes on your RAZR, there's every possibility you could get it. Of course, this is just speculation on my part.
Let us know what you think of the new phone over in the
