Intel didn’t beat the WiMAX drum particularly hard this time around – there was very little mention of it anywhere, and even demos were run using alternative methods of connection.
However, it wouldn’t be an Intel Developer Forum without at least one mention of the technology. This time around, it was left to Craig Barrett to bang the drum.
He claimed that WiMAX would reach 50 million by the end of the year, and by 2012, the technology should have reached a billion people.
Barrett said that many of those reached by Intel’s latest wireless technology will be in developing nations like India.
Do you think WiMAX will be adopted as quickly as Intel hopes? Discuss
