ATI board partner HIS has released the first
Radeon X1000 series card sporting a PCI-Express x1 interconnect.
Don't go getting too excited, the card is not about to break any land-speed records: it's based on a Radeon X1300 low-profile with up to 512MB of HyperMemory (shared). What makes it noteworthy is its benefit to the masses who may be stuck with integrated graphics on a motherboard without a PCI-Express x16 slot.
The card will also have good use in HTPC systems too, as the fan weighs in around 20dBA. The card also has full support for ATI's Avivo video enhancement technology. It also supports multiple displays and Shader Model 3.0.
An interesting feature is that the card is chainable, allowing as many monitors as PCI-Express x1 slots (times two, as each card supports dual 400MHz RAMDACs).
