MSI has announced that it is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the launch of a limited-edition Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 cooled via a custom-design EKWB water block linked to a 120mm all-in-one liquid-cooling system.
Dubbed the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 30th Anniversary Edition, for reasonably obvious reasons, the heart of the special edition release is an Nvidia GPU tweaked to 1,721MHz base and 1,860MHz boost clocks when in top-performance 'OC Mode,' dropping to 1,695MHz and 1,835MHz in Gaming Mode and 1,607MHz and 1,733MHz in Silent Mode. 8GB of GDDR5 memory is included, running at an effective 10,008MHz in Silent and Gaming settings jumping to 10,108MHz in OC Mode. Three DisplayPort 1.4 ports are included, alongside a single HDMI 2.0 port and a dual-link DVI-D port, with an overall maximum output resolution of 7,680 x 4,320.
The card itself isn't the special part of the bundle, however. Instead, that honour goes to the custom water block and all-in-one liquid cooling-system, designed in partnership with liquid cooling specialist EKWB, which comes pre-installed on the card. The full-cover water block is claimed to offer premium cooling for all hot-running components - including the GPU itself, the memory, and power delivery components - through a nickel-plated copper base and an aluminium top-plate engraved with the MSI 30th Anniversary logo.
The water block comes attached to an EKWB CoolStream PE radiator, designed to fit in a 120mm fan housing and containing an integrated DDC pump. A single 120mm high-static-pressure Vardar fan provides airflow for cooling, while a matte black backplate and RGB LED backlit logo on the water block's hose connectors completes the bundle.
MSI has yet to confirm pricing or availability for the limited edition card, but those looking to pick it up are advised to prepare themselves for seeing it sit at the very top of the company's price bracket. More information is available on the
official product page.
