MSI has announced the impending launch of a low-profile Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, designed to improve the performance of small form factor and other space-limited systems.
Based on Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050 graphics processor, MSI's new low-profile card packs the same Pascal power as its full-size brethren but in a dual-slot, half-height layout. Both full-size and low-profile PCI brackets are included in the packaging, while the GPU itself is cooled via a pair of tiny fans on top of a diminutive black heatsink. To further boost compatibility, the 75W card is also powered entirely through the PCI Express socket with no need to be wired into the power supply directly.
According to MSI, buyers opting for the low-profile variant won't be compromising on performance: the card comes running at Nvidia's stock 1,354MHz base and 1,455MHz boost clock speeds, with the 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at 7,000MHz. The dual-slot card also includes an HDMI 2.0b port, a DisplayPort 1.4 output, and a single DVI-D port for older displays, all of which are present and usable on both full-size and half-height brackets.
Sadly, MSI has not yet revealed UK pricing and availability for the new card, which will sit below the company's GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB low-profile design for those who don't need the extra video memory or performance.
