Japanese cooling specialist Scythe has announced the latest entry in its fan controller range, the Kaze Master Flat II - a follow-up to the range that started with the Kaze Master back in 2008.
The Scythe Kaze Master Flat II replaces the Kaze Master Flat in the product family, retaining the flat-fronted design of its predecessor but removing the protective display cover in favour of a solid front panel for a cleaner finish. A vacuum-fluorescent display (VFD) dominates the front with temperature and fan speed readouts for four channels, with buttons on the right-hand side allowing for adjustment. Compared to the original, the new model triples the current available on each channel from 1A to 3A - 36W per channel at the full 12V setting.
The four temperature channels are tied in to an alarm system which triggers when a set temperature is reached or when a connected fan fails. A mute button at the bottom-left silences the alarm, while a new Mode button at the top-left moves between the various functions and channels of the controller.
As well as a slightly increased display size - 20mm x 118mm, 4mm larger than its predecessor - the new model improves on the original with the inclusion of sleeved fan and sensor cabling. As before, the controller is designed for fitting to a 5.25" drive bay, and includes mounting screws, cabling and adhesive tape for the sensors.
Scythe has confirmed a European recommended retail price of €26 for the Kaze Master Flat II, although UK pricing was not available at the time of writing as units have not yet entered the sales channel. More details are available on the
official website.
