Cooling specialist Cryorig has announced the latest entry in its air-cooling range, the C7, designed for compact cases and measuring just 2mm taller than Intel's stock heatsink and fan assembly.
First unveiled by the company at Computex this year, the Cryorig C7 measures just 47mm high while packing in four 6mm heatpipes and an impressive 92mm 2,500rpm fan. Its top-down cooling design is claimed to beat Intel's stock heatsink and fan (HSF) design with 25 per cent lower temperatures and 20 per cent less noise, yet measures just 2mm taller. Its footprint, meanwhile, is designed to comply with Intel and AMD's CPU Keep-Out Zone layout, meaning that it should fit in even the snuggest of cases without fouling other hardware or RAM sockets.
Compatible with all recent AMD and Intel socket types, including the latest LGA 1151 socket used for Intel's Skylake family, the C7 is claimed to be able to tame chips with thermal design profiles (TDPs) of up to 100W. Its performance is aided by a nickel-plated copper baseplate, 57 individual fins of 0.4mm thickness, and what the company describes as the Quad Air Inlet System boosting the fan airflow to 40.5 cubic feet per minute (CFM).
