Corsair has announce extended graphics card support for its Hydro Series all-in-one liquid coolers, launching a pair of new brackets allowing installation on any stock-layout GeForce GTX 980, GT 970, or compatible.
While sealed-loop all-in-one liquid coolers were originally designed for use with a systems CPU, in recent years it has become increasingly popular to adapt them for GPU use - especially with the thermal design profile (TDP) of modern GPUs typically dwarfing that of the CPU. Back in 2013, NZXT announced the Kraken G10 bracket for attaching a range of CPU-centric liquid coolers to the GPU of selected cards; the next year, Corsair followed suit with the HG10 adapter plate and its Nvidia-compatible follow-up in January this year.
Now, Corsair has announced a pair of new designs which expand the supported card list considerably. The HG10 N980 and HG10 N970 brackets, as their names suggest, take the HG10 design and shuffle things around so as to provide compatibility with any reference-layout GeForce GTX 980 Ti, Titan X, GTX 980, or GTX 970. As expected, the brackets also include a 70mm blower-type fan so as to provide cooling to components such as RAM and VRMs which are not in contact with the water-block - though the smaller N970 variant provides active cooling to VRMs alone, leaving the RAM to its own devices.
Corsair has priced both brackets at £29.99, which is equivalent to its last-generation design - representing a small increase in value for money, as the first HG10 required users to re-use the blower fan from their existing heatsink, while the new models include a bundled Corsair-branded fan.
