Antec has announced the launch of its TrueQuiet 120 UFO fan family in the UK, promising reduced noise compared to its previous-generation equivalent.
AS the name implies, the TrueQuiet 120 UFO is a 120mm fan family available in four colours: blue, red, white and green, each of which lights up in said colour using a transparent LED ring around the otherwise black housing - hence the 'UFO' reference. Regardless of colour, the design is the same: nine specially-shaped fan blades which Antec claims are designed to reduce air swirls and the resulting noise, rubberised contact points and rubber tool-free mounting pins, all of which combine to reduce noise levels compared to equivalently priced fans with a similar specification.
According to Antec's internal testing, the fans' two speeds offer 19.9dBA at 1,000rpm or 8.9dBA at 600rpm, selectable using a bundled two-level switching unit bundled with the fan alongside the mounting pins and a three-to-four-pin Molex adapter for powering directly from a PSU. At the higher speed, Antec claims a 46.3 cubic feet per minute (CFM) air flow and a 1.4W power draw; at the lower speed, that drops to 21.1 CFM and 0.7W. As standard, the fans will include a two-year warranty.
The four models of Antec TrueQuiet 120 UFO fans are available in the channel now, priced at a manufacturers' recommended retail price of £12.95 each. More information is available on Antec's
