Cooling specialist Alphacool has announced a new radiator family, the Eisbrecher, designed to offer a modder-friendly alternative to its Nexxxos range.
Available in 120mm, 240mm, and 360mm variants, with models designed for 140mm fans promised to appear in due course, Alphacool's latest Eisbrecher - meaning 'Ice Breaker' - radiators offer a range of improvements over their predecessors. Chief among these is a material located beneath the exterior honeycomb grille which Alphacool claims helps to evenly distribute airflow across the radiator fins: the Air-Breaker Mat, or ABM. This, the company claims, ensures there are no dead spots as can be found with traditional fan-straight-to-radiator designs, improving the performance of the radiator with slow-moving fans in particular.
The second development in the Eisbrecher is designed to appeal to modders: the radiator's aluminium frame is designed to be easily removed for painting or other modification. As with the company's earlier designs, the radiator core itself is constructed entirely from copper and measures 45mm in thickness (56mm overall) with six positions for the G¼" connectors which provide inflow and outflow of coolant.
Alphacool has confirmed European pricing for the Eisbrecher Pro XT45 120mm, 240mm, and 360mm models at €69.95, €94.95, and €119.95 respectively (around £61, £83, and £105 respectively including VAT) without fans. More information is available on the
