EVGA has officially announced its latest compact mini-ITX chassis designed with the performance enthusiast firmly in mind and capable of holding even full-length graphics cards, the Hadron Air.
The EVGA Hadron Air measures just 30.5cm tall, 169mm wide and 308mm deep, making it one of the most compact mini-ITX cases to still offer support for double-slot graphics cards of up to 267mm in length. A bundled compact 500W 80 Plus Gold power supply offers a claimed 40A on the 12V rail, and reasonable amperage on other rails for high-drain hardware.
The case includes two side-facing USB 3.0 ports alongside HD audio in and out, two combined 2.5/3.5" hard-drive bays, room for a slim slot-loading optical drive which intriguingly loads from the side of the front-panel, and a power button interestingly located slightly off-centre of the gloss finish front.
The EVGA Hadron Air is, as the name suggests, designed for air cooling: the case includes two 120mm exhaust fans as standard, with little room to add any additional cooling. Bundled extras include a power cable, two matching black SATA cables, the sideways mounting tray for an optical drive, and the required screws. The case weighs a claimed 6KG including power supply.
While the case includes ports at the rear for a water-cooling loop, the compact dimensions mean that any such system would have to be largely external - something EVGA has promised to address with the release of a follow-up in the form of the Hadron Hydro. Designed for after-market water-cooling systems, the Hydro extends the case vertically to provide room for a radiator, pump and reservoir - which, obviously, sacrificing the svelte dimensions of the air-cooled version.
Pricing for the Hadron has been set at €180.77 direct from EVGA (around £153 excluding taxes,) while a spec sheet (PDF warning) is available alongside a promotional video, reproduced below.
