A coupon code for Razer's web shop that discounts products by 90 per cent, generated purely for internal testing purposes, has been doing the rounds - and the company has stated it will be honouring all transactions.
Razer's website was hit by a massive traffic spike earlier this week as details of a previously-secret code that reduces any product by 90 per cent spread. Valid only on the company's UK site, the code was originally created by a third-party developer for testing of the shopping cart system - but was never removed from the codebase. How it leaked out is not known, but following thousands of orders using the code Razer took its site down while it investigated the issue.
If you're wondering if the code still works, the answer's no: before taking the site back up, the company has excised the discount code from its system. If you were one of the chancers who placed an order, however, we've got some good news: your luck is in.

While we have the option of cancelling the orders legally, we’ve always had a customer comes first policy at Razer and in respect of this incident, we have decided to honour the orders that were placed using the unauthorised code by Razer fans buying single products for their own use,' company co-founder and chief executive Min-Liang Tan has announced on the company's
Facebook page. '
Unfortunately, as the products are being sold well below their cost, it will likely cost us an insane amount of losses to make good on the orders which will really really hurt us as we’re still a small company - that much said, we want to do right by the community.
'For orders in the multiples of units for a single product, we will still give each an opportunity to purchase one item of each product ordered at the 90% off discount,' Tan added, '
but not for multiple units of the same product. Our focus is on doing the right thing for our fans, the gamers and the community, not for resellers or users to profit from this. That’s not gaming, that’s not our deal.'
Tan claims it will take a while to get the orders processed and shipped due to the higher-than-usual demand generated by the code. '
