Google is today remembering the infamous Roswell UFO sightings with a point-an-click adventure game "Google Doodle".

It's 66 years to the day that a mysterious airborne object crashed to earth on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. The event is one of the most famous incidences of supposed alien sightings, with many believing the craft was from out of this world.

The other rather more mundane explanation comes from the United States Armed Forces which claims that the debris recovered near Roswell was from the crash of an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon. This belonged to what was then a classified (top secret) program named Mogul. However, conspiracy theorists maintain the crash was an alien craft and that the balloon explanation is a cover up.

Whatever the reality Google has seen fit to celebrate the incident with a little Flash adventure game that sees the player tasked with putting back together the crashed ship so our little alien friend can fly on home.

The game is being rolled out round the world as we type so isn't available everywhere yet but if you head straight to https://www.google.co.uk/ you can give it a go now.
