GamesCom 2010: Ubisoft has confirmed that
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still in production and that fans just need to be patient.
Ubisoft is willing to invest as much time as it takes in Michel Ancel's sequel, it seems, as Ubisoft CEO says that the game won't be released until it is perfect.
"
We were, as we are, working on the game," Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot told
Kotaku at GamesCom 2010 in Germany.
Guillemot seemed to recognise the reputation that the original game had gathered was worth a lot, though he acknowledged that the game was a bit of a flop when it came to sales.
"
I would say the game was very well appreciated by the people who played it," said Guillemot. "
But we didn't have enough people when it was launched. After its time it become a very recognised product."
Unveiled back at Ubidays 2008,
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is the next game from
Rayman creator Michel Ancel, who is reported to be using a small development team to help preserve his creative vision. The original, also developed by Ancel, is one of our favourite games.
