Ubisoft has officially announced the next entry in the
Ghost Recon tactical shooter series, revealing that the fourth game in the franchise will be called
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The game is being developed by Ubisoft's Paris studio and is already set for a Q4 2010 release, with Ubi keen to get a slice of the Christmas crowds.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be a multiplatform title primarily intended for consoles by the looks of it. Both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are confirmed and Ubisoft's senior community developer Kimi Matsuzaki mentioned on
Twitter today that there would be more information on the PC version at a later date.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be released at the same time and Ubisoft also has a Wii, DS and PSP version of the game planned to boot.
Ubisoft will be running an invite-only multiplayer beta over summer at some point, but to get involved you'll need to buy the Xbox 360 version of
Splinter Cell: Conviction, which will be released this April.
