Max Payne developer Remedy has confirmed that it would be interested in creating a sequel to the recently released survival horror game,
Alan Wake.
Alan Wake was released a few weeks ago after a protracted development process that saw it
change from a Windows Vista exclusive to an Xbox 360 only game.
"
We're still in launch phase of Alan Wake 1, but Microsoft have an option for [a sequel]. That was in the deal a long time ago," Remedy's head of franchise development, Oskai Hakkinen, told
IGN.
"
I don't see why they wouldn't. We're happy with the partnership and they're happy with the game. I think it fits in their portfolio quite nicely. I don't see any reason why we wouldn't continue with Microsoft and why we wouldn't renew the IP. We definitely want a sequel of course."
Quick to quash obvious concerns about how long
Alan Wake 2 might take to make, Hakkinen said that it would almost definitely be quicker to produce.
"
Max Payne 1 took us also five years to make. Max Payne 2 took us 18 months. I think we'd be looking at something of a similar cycle."
Regarding DLC plans, Hakkinen said that only the previously announced
The Signal and
The Writer packs are planned for the moment, though more are a possibility.
The Signal is a free add-on coming next month for those who bought the game new, while
The Writer will be released later this year for 560 MS points - around £5 GBP.
