Sierra Entertainment has announced that World in Conflict, the highly anticipated real-time strategy game from Massive Entertainment, has gone gold.
This means that the game’s development is complete and the master discs are on their way to the manufacturing plant ahead of the September 21st European release date.
Martin Tremblay, president of worldwide studios at Sierra Entertainment hailed
World in Conflict as
“one of the premiere PC games of 2007, one that pushes the strategy genre to the next-generation, blurring the lines between strategy, action and first-person-shooter.”
Having played the beta quite religiously myself, I can’t say I’ve seen any first-person elements in the game. However, what Massive has done is focus the gameplay on action, instead of resource gathering and base building.
Sierra says that, in addition to the multiplayer beta that many
bit-tech readers have played, the game features a deep singleplayer campaign with “Hollywood-quality storytelling of the Cold War gone hot.”
This is one game that I’ve been looking forward to since playing the closed beta, so I’m now in the process of counting the days down until release. What’s that... 41 days to go? I can’t wait.
Are you looking forward to this game as much as I am? Tell us
