The soundtrack to a new Tony Hawk game is always the subject of much debate. Have they gone too hip-hoppy again? Who's actually got any decent credentials? Is it better than the last one?
The Tony Hawk games are incredibly popular, and the soundtracks have introduced a great many kids to a great deal of music they wouldn't otherwise be listening to. How many would be listening to Jurassic 5, were it not for the inclusion of 'A Day At the Races' in Underground? How many would have heard of Bad Religion were it not for the second in the series?
The number of tracks accompanying the game has slowly been getting longer. Underground 2 had 53 tracks, American Wasteland, the new PS2 and Xbox 360 title, has 60. We've picked out some of our favourites from the list:
- Green Day - "Holiday"
- Frank Black - "Los Angeles"
- The Bravery - "Unconditional"
- Dead Kennedys - "California Über Alles"
- The Doors - "Peace Frog"
- Scissor Sisters - "Filthy/Gorgeous"
- Public Enemy - "Burn Hollywood Burn"
- Bad Religion - "We're Only Gonna Die
To accompany the game, there will also be a CD soundtrack available on Vagrant records, featuring the Drop Kick Murphys, Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance.
If you have an Xbox 360, you'll be able to compile your own soundtracks to play alongside the game. Who's for 2 hours of Faith No More?
