Sierra Entertainment announced today that its imaginative, time-bending first person shooter,
TimeShift, will soon be coming to the PS3 as well, with a planned release date of "sometime this autumn".
TimeShift is a game we've had our eyes on for a while, combining the time altering mechanic of Ubisoft's
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with the type of high pressure cinematic violence seen in games like
F.E.A.R.
Sounds like a good combination, right?
With the ability to slow, stop and rewind time via a "unique quantum suit", the player is forced into a deep storyline for the single player experience. Multiplayer on the PS3 will support up to 16 players who can battle it out over seven different game modes in a total of 14 maps. We wouldn't be surprised if new content is delivered soon after release via the PlayStation 3's online capabilities either.
“TimeShift will compete with the best shooter games of the year on any platform and will offer PlayStation 3 gamers a visceral new experience unlike any they have ever seen or played before,” said Al Simone, SVP of Marketing for Sierra.
Whether the game will deliver as promised remains to be seen, but with Sierra's experience with
F.E.A.R and the proven game mechanics seen in the recent
Prince of Persia series, it's certainly looking tasty enough at this point.
Whether
TimeShift can save the PS3, which some consider to be in dire straits since the recent
delay of MGS 4, which has been set back an entire year and is one of the PlayStation 3's key titles.
Reckon much to
TimeShift? If you could rewind time, what would you do? Discuss it
in the forums.
