The Warhammer 40,000 franchise is getting another video game instalment in the form of Space Wolf, a cross between a tactical combat and collectible card game.
The title will star the Space Wolves, a chapter of the universe's iconic space marines that wear wolf skins over grey armour and are generally modelled after space-vikings.
Gameplay will involve customising a deck of cards which can be played to perform certain actions in a 3D turn-based strategy environment.
Space Wolf, developed by HeroCraft, will be a free-to-play title and will involve deck-building mechanics, something which has proven to work well with micro transactions.
HeroCraft has a large portfolio of mobile games under its belt, with probably its most well known one being Farm Frenzy. Space Wolf looks to be the first time the developer has been let loose on a large franchise however.
Space Wolf is heading for an iOS, Android and PC release in the second quarter of 2014. It is also listed as being developed for "other platforms", so further releases might also be planned.
Recently, popular Games Workshop intense strategy board game Space Hulk also saw a digital release, although for many it was an under-whelming experience and suffered from many bugs. In October, the game received a large patch which also included three new missions.
