PSP fans may originally have been mightily impressed by the new PSP-3000 model, which boasts an improved microphone and new brighter, anti-glare screen - but issues have since emerged that compromise that greatness. Worse, Sony has announced it has no plans to fix the issue.
The new screen on the PSP-3000 was in part designed to address complaints of image ghosting on older PSPs, but the new display has issues of its own it seems as complaints have sprung up on the PlayStation forums (Via Kotaku) of visible scanlines and interlacing effects that can be seen during gaming and video playback.
Users on the official forums have discontent with Sony and many who bought a new PSP-3000 solely for the better screen have since exclaimed that they are not happy with their upgrade.
"On some occasions, scan lines may appear on scenes where brightness changes drastically, due to the hardware features of the new LCD device on PSP-3000," says the official Sony response.
"Installed with this new LCD device, PSP-3000 offers more natural and vibrant colors on its screen, but the scan lines have come out to be more visible as a result of improving response time to alleviate the afterimages on PSP-3000. Since this is due to hardware specification, there are no plans for a system software update concerning this issue."
