Maybe you're a fan of the game, or maybe you're a fan of the music. Maybe you hate the music, or the game, or maybe you have a love/hate relationship with staged press events as a whole, you cynical geek you.
Either way, who could resist the urge to shoot some modern American glam rockers in the face over and over again. That's exactly what gamers will have a chance to do soon as the excellent Scissor Sisters will be booting up the
Halo 3 beta later this month and going head to head with fans.
(Ed - I think the "excellent" is in the wrong place.)
Starting at 11:00 BST (we assume AM) on May 30, two members of the band will log on to the
Halo 3 Multiplayer beta and start shooting it up Master Chief-style from their hotel in France. Not only that but the two rockers, Jake Shears and Babydaddy, will be doing this just before a live gig - talk about hardcore rock lifestyles.
(Ed - Will they be throwing the Xbox 360s out the window when they lose?)
The band actually have a history with the
Halo franchise as in February the band helped to launch the Xbox Soundtracks, using a remixed versio of their song
She's My Man on the trailer for
Halo Wars.
Of course, it's most likely all some dubiously simple press event, but who knows; the Sisters may actually prove good enough to pwn a n00b or two before their concert.
If you've not played the beta yet then be sure to check out our
impressions, and even if you've not then it's a great excuse to read more of your favourite website.
Do you think the Scissor Sisters actually stand a chance against the baying hordes of
Halo fanboys, or is the whole thing unlikely to amount to anything noteworthy? Let us know what you think
in the forums.
