Anarchic open world sandbox game Saints Row 4 is set to receive an official SDK for its PC version.
Official modding tools are something that developer Volition have been promising for a while, even before the release of Saints Row 4 and there is already a strong modding community for the game. The impending tools were announced during PAX 2014.
Volition is currently working on a port of Saints Row 4 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One and also announced a standalone DLC pack, Gat of out Hell. This expansion sends two of the main Saints Row gangsters to the afterlife via a ouija board to fight the forces of hell and ultimately confront the devil.
Gat out of Hell will also be included in the next generation console port, which is being titled Saints Row 4: Re-Elected and which will also include all of the Saints Row 4 DLC released to date.
The DLC and Playstation 4 and Xbox One port will hit shelves in January 2015, however no exact release date for the modding tools has been announced.
Saints Row 4 was initially released in August 2013 and purportedly started life as downloadable content for Saints Row 3 titled Enter the Dominatrix. The fourth entry in the series started to experiment with different ways of getting around the city through the use of super powers and began introducing increasingly outlandish features to the series.
