If there's one thing that pretty much every bit-tech.net reader has got in common then it has to be that we have all had, at one point or another, a parent or loved one looming over us and demanding we go outside - "Why are you inside playing with computers when you could be out having fun and getting fit?"

Well, next time someone turns around and says that to you, you just point them towards EA's Peter Moore! In a comment issued yesterday at the MI6 marketing conference, the former Xbox 360 honcho talked about the effect he sees games having on the world in the future.

Games have a key role to play in health and wellness. People will be able to do things with games in their own houses that they just can’t do at the gym. And it’s not just about making yourself stronger and healthier but also smarter and happier," said Moore.

Games have the power to make people happy and to make the world a better place. And I do mean the world, because we are now opening up massive new markets like China and India that will bring billions of gamers.

Hm - we're sure that Jack Thompson has a different viewpoint though.

Do you think games are a great way to make the world a better place, or is Moore getting carried away in rivers of his own hyperbole? Let us know what you think in the forums.
