THQ has confirmed that its upcoming third person shooter based on the Warhammer 40K franchise is to come to PC as well as consoles, according to
Eurogamer.
The new shooter, which is being developed by
Company of Heroes developer Relic Entertainment, is set for an "
early 2011" release, according to THQ.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine will now be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
“
The loyal PC audience is incredibly important to us here at Relic,” said Relic general manager John Dowdeswell.
“
Delivering great content the fans want to play is the key goal in the core games division at THQ so we are pulling out all of the stops to make this the best possible game for PC and console audiences alike,” added a THQ spokesperson.
The game itself casts players as a Space Marine who, through genetic modification and psycho-chemical conditioning, has gained near super-human strength and endurance. Those powers come in handy when the planet your platoon is stationed on is overrun by enemy forces.
