Ubisoft has set its sights on improving the way in which it deals with PC gaming.
Talking to
MCV at Gamescom, Ubisoft general director of EMEA Alain Corre claimed that the company was listening to disgruntled PC gamers and is dedicated to focusing more on the PC business.
Corre highlights the company’s adoption of a one-time activation for PC games as opposed to the notorious always-connected DRM that earned Ubisoft significant ire a few years back and the publisher’s new policy of trying to get PC games released at the same time as console versions as examples of ways in which Ubisoft is already trying to improve its practises.
While many titles in the past have come to PC after their console counterparts, Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Unity will see a simultaneous release across consoles and PCs. Corre adds that this strategy will be the goal for all of Ubisoft’s major titles.
’We recognise the importance and needs of PC gamers, and want to continue to improve how we create and support games for PC,’ said Corre.
’We listen to feedback from players and continue to adapt accordingly.
As a percentage of Ubisoft’s business, PC gaming grew to 15% in 2013 to 2014, an improvement from 11% in 2012 to 2013. Corre points to this as evidence that the company has already made improvements in its PC games division.
