Ubisoft has confirmed it will be opening up the Ghost Recon Wildlands beta to all-comers from February 23rd, following the previous period of limited closed beta testing.
First teased at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2015 and given a formal trailer
in May 2016, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands - to give the game its full title - is designed to take the franchise's combat into an open-world environment as a means of injecting a bit of novelty. A closed beta run from February 3rd-6th as a means of testing the game's network engine and scalability, with
mixed reactions from players indicating a few bugs still to be ironed out - in an Ubisoft game, if you can believe that - and that the experience is significantly improved if you're playing with a group of friends.
Those who were not part of the closed beta will get a chance to play the game pre-launch next week, with Ubisoft confirming that an open beta will begin on February 23rd and run through to February 27th before being closed ahead of the game's formal launch on March 7th.
Anyone interested in joining in the open beta will need an Intel Core i5-2400S or AMD FX-4320 processor or better, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or better graphics card with 2GB of VRAM, 6GB of RAM, a 64-bit installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10, and 50GB of free hard drive space. To crank up the settings, Ubisoft recommends an Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, GTX 1060 or better with 4GB of VRAM, and 8GB of RAM.
Ghost Recon Wildlands launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows on March 7th.
