Microsoft denies Sunset Overdrive PC port plan

Microsoft has debunked rumours that Sunset Overdrive, its latest Xbox One exclusive title, will be coming to Windows with claims an advert suggesting the possibility was 'a simple mistake'.
Sunset Overdrive is Microsoft's latest weapon in the war against rival Sony's PlayStation 4 - a war Sony is presently winning hands-down. An open-world third-person shooter, the near-future title offers a tongue-in-cheek take on the dystopian narrative in which the player must gun-down mutated addicts of his employer FizzCo's energy drink. Designed to show off the capabilities of the next-gen console, the Xbox One exclusive includes free-running features and grind rails which keep the action fast and frenetic.
Launching in North America tomorrow and Europe at the end of the month, the game - developed by Insomniac Games - has already garnered some glowing reviews. With Microsoft bundling the title with a new Xbox One console design finished in white, it's clear the company has high hopes for the game. Its potential for helping the Xbox One close in on the PS4 looked rocky this weekend, however, when eagle-eyed internet users spotted an advert which suggested the game was a timed Xbox One exclusive only and would be coming to Windows PCs in due course.
If true, that fact may have harmed Xbox One sales as players eager to try the game opted to purchase it on PC instead of plunging into the next-generation - or, technically, now current-generation - console arena. 'On the Sunset Xbox/PC ad: Not true,' posted Microsoft's Mike Ybarra via social networking service Twitter yesterday. 'This was a simple mistake and the team is aware/addressing. Sorry for any confusion!'
Insomniac Games has not commented on the rumour, nor on Ybarra's debunking of same.
