2016 is quite a year for gaming anniversaries: both id Software's seminal Quake and Nintendo's much-loved N64 turn 20, while Sega's Sonic franchise turns 25 - and it's the latter that's the focus of Humble Bundle's latest pay-almost-what-you-want offering: the Humble Sonic 25th Anniversary Bundle.
Timed to celebrate, as the name suggests, the 25th birthday of Sega's blue-spined and red-shod hedgepig, the Humble Sonic 25th Anniversary Bundle is as always split into multiple tiers. At the bottom tier, priced at $1 or higher, gamers get the original Sonic the Hedgehog Mega Drive game, Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut, Sonic 3D Blast, and the Sonic CD Mega CD game. Beating the average, sitting just below $10 at the time of writing, adds Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure 2 with Battle DLC, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, and the first episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, along with more games yet to be unveiled but almost certain to include Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.
Paying $10 or more adds a few more games to the list: Sonic Lost World, Sonic Generations with Casino Nights DLC, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed with Metal Sonic, Outrun, and Ryo Hazuki DLC, and the second episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4. The final tier includes one of Humble Bundle's occasional physical goods: a 25th anniversary T-shirt, priced at $35 including the contents of all other bundles.
The bundle is due to run through the next twelve days, and is joined by a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed Humble Comics Bundle. More information is available on the
official bundle page.
