The PC Gaming Alliance is reporting a bit of good news today, having enlisted a bunch of new members who have been added to the ranks and joined the fight to help support and expand PC gaming in the face of continued consolification.
The new members include
Supreme Commander developer Gas Powered Games, BFG Technologies, Bigfoot Networks, Flextronics, GameTap, Howie's Game Shack, GameStop and InstantAction. Some of those people we've never heard of admittedly, but others are sure to be a positive boon for the alliance.
The PC Gaming Alliance continues to prove controversial with gamers however and the most common reaction to the group seems to be questioning if they've actually achieved anything yet other than signing up a bunch of developers and manufacturers who might, hypothetically, like to see PC gaming become a bigger business.
The PC Gaming Alliance is a non-profit organisation which has seen it's fair share of controversies elsewhere though, with
Activision Blizzard leaving the group not long ago and
DRM-maker SecuROM signing up.
"
I've spent most of my career fully immersed in the world of PC gaming. It's where many of the world's biggest gaming franchises were born and where much of the industry's innovation continues to this day," said Gas Powered Games CEO Chris Taylor.
"
Gas Powered Games hopes to make contributions that keep PC gaming at the forefront of the industry, help it to overcome its challenges, and continue to fulfill its amazing potential."
