NCSoft has announced a new MMO at GamesCom 2011 in Cologne, revealing the much-teased project as an MMO called Wildstar.
Developed by Carbine Studios and using a cartoony aesthetic, Wildstar has just four character classes for players to choose from, each based around a playing archetype.
The four classes, which are pretty self-explanatory, are Soldier, Scientist, Explorer and Settler.
Set in the far future on a mysterious planet, Wildstar looks set to target a more casual end of the market than competitors such as World of Warcraft are appealing to.
'
WildStar and Guild Wars 2 showcase the innovation coming from NCsoft’s development studios, paving the way for the next generation of videogames and setting a high bar for the entertainment industry to follow,' said NCSoft's Matt Turetzky.
'
We are focused on delighting players by delivering fun, immersive experiences that rival traditional forms of entertainment through personal expression, best-in-class gameplay mechanics, and social engagement.'
