Activision has hinted at the first batches of downloadable content for the upcoming
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, with the existence of a planned map pack being proclaimed on a tie-in energy drink.
Yes, it's a bit weird isn't it? It's a sentence we doubt we'll ever say again, ever.
According to
IGN, Activision struck a deal with Monster energy drinks to launch a
Modern Warfare 2 branded run of the caffeine juice, with a competition on the cans listing
Modern Warfare 2 map pack as a prize.
The competition claims it will have 5000
Modern Warfare 2 map packs to give away, with an expected release date of Spring 2010. Other prizes include dashboard themes, copies of the game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, plus free drinks.
Activision has previously promised that there will be at least two map packs released for
Modern Warfare 2, though whether the Spring 2010 one is the first or second batch is unclear.
Monster Energy will begin selling the branded drinks later this month in the US, with boxes of six and four available to buy. Those who buy a box of six can apparently get involved in the
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Combat Training Experience - an online event hosted by Infinity Ward. Yippee.
If you're looking for an alternative energy drink of course then you can check out either of
our previous energy drink round-ups -
one of which we even put on tape! If you're getting fed up with all this
Modern Warfare 2 hype though then you can let us know in
the forums.
